    Social Responsibility of Companies in Contemporary Business

    The definition of social responsibility has often changed over the time. Differences in the economies of the United States of America (USA) and Europe have a strong impact on the social responsibility and stakeholdersā€™ expectations from socially responsible business (SRB). The economic sector of the USA makes a significant contribution to addressing social and development initiatives in the local community, while in European countries there is an expectation that the state will meet such needs. The globalization processes transfer American corporate culture all around the world, as well as the engagement in solving social problems in the communities in which they operate. The economic model of social responsibility puts the profit motivation into the first place and emphasizes that it is the most effective tool for solving the world problems. The new circumstances in which businesses operate and the fact that information are available always and everywhere have a strong influence on the evolution of the social responsibility model from the economic to the socio-economic model. The role of business is not just to make profit, but also to cooperate between companies and society, and a balanced benefit for all stakeholders. This work consists of three parts. The introduction describes a traditional and new approach to social responsibility and benefits for companies that operate under the principles of social responsibility. The second chapter outlines European Union (EU) guidelines on SRB while concluding remarks synthesize the benefits of social responsibility in modern business as well as the critiques of the model.     Enterprises Using Radio Frequency Identification: Industry usage and specific purposes

    Implementation and usage of the latest inventions in information technology provides enterprises better position on the global market. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) presents the innovative information technology that can change and improve many of the enterprises collaboration operations and support decision making process. The best results of RFID usage are achieved in the supply chain systems, but RFID can be applied in the fields of medicine, finance, logistics and trade. Goal of this paper is to evaluate trends and purposes of RFID usage among enterprises in European Union. We also analyse usage of RFID among Enterprises in European Union according to the industry. Future research will focus on application of RFID among enterprises worldwide and to examine are there any differences in RFID usage among developed and developing countries.     Faktori koji utječu na korupciju u javnom sektoru (na primjeru neovisnih država bivŔe žuto-crne monarhije)

    In this research our attention was given to factors that define the degree of corruption (in the single state) or what generates corruption. In the case of five independent states of the former Yellow-black monarchy it will be found out how some macroeconomic pointers can influence the degree of corruption (in what part they influence). In this research it was found out with the analysis of the panel data between the years 2003 and 2011 how the degree of corruption is influenced by the GDP, unemployment and the height of the average net revenue. As it was descovered that the right factors have been chosen, because it was found out that all three (3) macroeconomic pointers represent 87.29% of all the influences on the perception of corruption. The most impact on corruption has the degree of unemployment so it can be concluded that the perception of corruption is determined by negative effects on the standard of citizens (lower income, more unemployment).U ovom istraživanju this research our attention was given to factors that define the degree of corruption (in the single state) or what generates corruption. The research was conducted in the Republic of Croatia as a part of the research focused on the essential parameters of the loyalty of employees that contribute to building and retaining loyal behaviour.     Relationship between Customers\u27 Loyalty and Income: Preliminary Research

    Customer relationship management has a great role in customers\u27 loyalty and satisfaction. However, it is questionable if companies are facing their customers with adequate care. Research that analyzes income and its impact to customersā€™ loyalty, especially in post-transition countries is scare. This paper investigates customers\u27 attitudes towards selected loyalty determinants. In order to achieve the goal, empirical research on the sample of Croatian customers has been conducted. The respondents were classified into three groups regarding income level and then compared using Kruskall-Wallis test.     Impact of Income on Customers\u27 Loyalty: Are Customers with Higher Income more Loyal?

    Background: Recent research on customersā€™ loyalty mostly focuses on several indicators, such as price, income and promotion. However, the level of income and its impacts on customers\u27 loyalty have not been investigated in greater details. Objectives: The main goal of this research is to investigate how different levels of income influence customers\u27 loyalty. Methods/Approach: This paper tries to investigate customers\u27 attitudes towards selected loyalty determinants, based on the survey research. Results: Several different factors which influence customers\u27 loyalty are identified. Research results confirmed that the level of income has a significant influence on customersā€™ attitude towards loyalty determinants in Croatia. Conclusions: Besides the scientific contribution, this research on customersā€™ loyalty also has practical implications important when undertaking further steps for developing conceptual models of customersā€™ loyalty
